"I would (and do)
recommend Trinity to almost everyone. The various subjects on the Bible,
theology and ministry are taught clearly and with a conviction that each
area is vitally important for Christian life and ministry." Michael Lochore MDiv Graduate
Studying at Trinity
Courses
Trinity Theological College offers three
awards (BTh,
GradDipDiv,
MDiv), each of which is accredited by the
Australian College of Theology (ACTh):
Trinity is one of among 25 Colleges across Australia linked to the ACT which
provide education for approx. 2,500 students each year. Students are able to
study courses with the ACT in all the major Australian cities.
The courses are quite demanding,
particularly for those who have not studied in the arts/humanities area before.
We recommend that students plan to spend a minimum of two to three hours of
private study for each hour of class time. Full-time students should not plan to
work more than eight hours per week in either ministry or secular occupation.
Full-time students are required to participate fully in the life of the college
which includes being part of the prayer groups and ministry hour which occur
weekly.
Bachelor of Theology
(BTh)
This course
ensures a
good preparation framework to lead to work in areas such as youth ministry or
leading a congregation as a pastor.
-
It
is a three year full-time degree at the level
of an Australian University bachelor degree. Though the same degree is awarded
for all who successfully complete the requirements of the course, the BTh allows
students to do the Bible units with both biblical languages (Hebrew and Greek)
one (Greek) or in the English language.
-
Students are encouraged to begin in the Greek
stream with the summer pre-semester intensive and then decide whether to
continue.
-
First year is foundational and the units are
offered each year; second and third year units are repeated on a two year cycle.
-
The BTh is suitable for a wide-range of
Christian service and a standard requirement of most denominational
accreditation bodies.
- Entry requirements: Open as a first degree to
persons who have A TER of 65.00 (or equivalent). There is provision for mature
age (21 or over) entry. Consideration will be given to other factors such as
practical experience, maturity and motivation, and the likelihood of
satisfactory completion of the academic requirements of the course.
In the past the college has offered the
Bachelor of Ministries (BMin). The BMin is quite
similar in content to the BTh and for this reason the BMin has been
discontinued. It is only available to currently enrolled students and we expect
they will complete their studies at the end of 2006. |
